With a decade of experience in practice, I offer counselling and supervision on a Monday and Tuesday daytime, from my comfortable room in Chester, or online. For more on how this process works, see my ‘What is Counselling?’ or ‘Supervision’ pages.
I am also a lecturer on the MA in Clinical Counselling at the University of Chester, a BACP-accredited course. Prior to this, I worked for almost a decade as counsellor, supervisor and trainer at West Cheshire Bereavement Service at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, developing community bereavement support, and working with bereaved clients as well as palliative patients and family members facing the death of a loved one.
I am also on the writing panel for BACP Good Practice in Action resources (publications below).
I graduated with Merit from the MA in Clinical Counselling at the University of Chester in 2013.
I have worked with a wide range of clients, aged from 18 to 90+, and from a full spectrum of backgrounds and situations. Because of the work I do at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and my previous work with Wrexham and Flintshire Cruse, I have particular experience of and interest in working with bereavement and loss. My practice is CGT-informed (Complicated Grief Therapy), so please do contact me if you would like to know more or to discuss whether this treatment might be right for you.
But people are as individual as the challenges they face, so I also have experience working with issues including childhood abuse, addiction, gender and sexuality issues, family dynamics, workplace and legal issues, stress, anxiety, depression and suicidal feelings, to name a few.
I am also a trauma-informed practitioner, with experience working with & supervising others working with childhood abuse and adult sexual assault as well as traumatic bereavements.
As well as counselling and supervision, I can also offer training/CPD events in the arena of bereavement and loss.
As part of my commitment to ethical practice, I am a Registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework. I am fully insured, and attend regular supervision. In addition, I undertake a minimum of 30 hours of further training, or CPD (Continued Professional Development) each year.
